AVATAR: wow

I went to see the avatar with a friend and yes it worth's the buzz around it.
the idea of watching a 3D movie is awesome, the small butterflies, leaves, .... flying out of the screen approaching to you is magical
but what i want to talk about is the concept of the movie itself
the movie is about a planet filled with a precious item, the US army want it, so they take it
even if this means killing the planet population and ruining the planet environment and system, that's why some Arabs think it's a metaphor about Iraq
but the director is working on this movie for a 12 years, long before the 9/11
was he so wise to read the future? or was he just telling a story?
no one can answer this but James Cameron himself
the movie forced us to think about a specific question: where's my limit to benefit from a natural source? are you valid because you are strong or because you are right?

Silver Metallic people

Colors are one major tool humans use to express themselves, thoughts, ideas, entities, ... etc
In Egypt we are bad with colors.
walking in the streets, you will find one color dominates, and it's not a nice color at all ...
SILVER
the street lamps are silver/black, the new big veolia trash cans are silver, lot of shops sign, TVs, receivers, shopping cart in carrefour, shelves in malls, ...

stop at any mobile shop and step 2 steps back and take a whole look at the shop window, it's ALL SILVER plus some black/ metallic
take a look at the online store for elshennawy

have you noticed the cars: the new models are all in silver, when asking a car salesman: what are the colors available for this mode? silver of course and gold and red and silver and.. ehh white and silver and gold and ah ... aha the black will cost you more of course

when obama visited egypt, elMasry elYoum wrote this title:
«القاهرة» باللون البرونزى.. «أوباما جاى»

It's not really bronze it's silver
apparently we use silver to describe the "new" "modern" "rich" "high tech"
check any gadget and see the available colors: SILVER metalic
even airports, check this, (It's a client)

BUT WHY?
why the extensive use of the silver color to express the modern, high tech
in the 70s when the space movies disease started, it was all in silver: the space ships, the equipments, the buildings, and of course there were other colors used but not to describe the heroes of the movies
as usual we copied the idea and then stopped, the 70's era ended and we still stand on the same point
modern, hightech= silver
THEY (fi Europe we eldwal elmotakadema) evolved to the multicolor era, space movies are in colors now as you can see posters of some of (2008/2009)
but still other movies in silver
check the whole list of the space movies

the point is the lack of imagination status that is controled the society, i don't want to have a silver mobile, silver TV, silver receiver, silver car, i want colors but i can't simply because there is not any.
it's how a bad taste or one taste dominates.

STOP THE SILVER INVATION

weekend amusement

in weekends we (my sister and I) try to do something useful, so this week we went to Alexandria Museum

the place is a big white palace once belonged to a rich Alexandrian and later the USA embassy

you can easily notice the beauty of the old palace and the marvelous architecture techniques used to build it

the museum is divided into 3 sections:
Pharonic periods
Greek and Romain periods
Coptic, Islamic and modern periods
each occupy a whole floor of the palace

the amazing thing about the museum is the tomb:
they used the underground flour for the pharonic periods and under (the underground) there's a space used to be a wine basement, they turned to a pharanoic tomb

it's sooooo creepy, honestly: soft lighting, dark wall painting, mummy, anobees
my sister was scared to death
(LOOOOOOOL, and this of course was amusement to me )

some pieces are catching: السنكسار the book of saints in the coptic part, face made by mosaic in the greek/ romain part
Ekhnaton head, Hatshebsot head, warrior shield from the islamic part, a lady handbag made of gold (ENTIRELY) from the modern era was owned by the royal family

something funny happened and i have to share it:
in the Coptic part, were some pieced (شواهد قبور)
where a man or a woman stands praying between 2 pahraonic gods (horas & anobees) i guess
so seeing this was too provoking for me:
"this is absurd, is horus and anaboees part of the christian believes to put these pieces here!! they must found no place to put these pieces so they just put it any where thinking that no one will care, but this is misrepresent the believe, this is unacceptable, .......... so on"
my sister was "kabary dema3'k"
but i didn't

there was a tour guide, Egyptian walking with a group of tourists, after finished she sat down on the stairs giving them sometime to take pictures, i went to her and said: excuse me, i was wondering about some pieces in the coptic section, the man praying with anobees and horus, why?

she is very intelligent woman and immediately understand what i was getting at so she said: ahh you mean (شواهد القبور), you are right it's not Christianity to have anobees and horus, but some people when the converted to Christianity they kept their old traditions with them for a while, although they didn't believe in horus and anobees any more they were costumed to put their pictures in the tomb with them, keeping the old tradition faded by time of course and later we can't find similar pieces

this was a great answer, she respected my believe, explained the matter in a very scientific and acceptable manner. i said thank you very much smiled and walked away

my sister was "can you calm now and stop making a fuss from everything"
i'm glad to ask the question else i would walk away feeling bad about the whole situation, but i'm not glad of myself because i assumed things that aren't real in a fast stupid way

Zahir Paulo Coelho

Reading a story by Paulo Coelho is like going to a journey to Sweden to end up in China

he always use this pattern, at the first few pages he declares that he's in point "A" and he want the novel to end up in point "B", in every page and line he stress on this fact. by the end of the story the reader is completely convinced and prepared to be in point "B" but at this point the reader discover that point "B" in fact is point "C" and that there's no such thing as point "B"

a great example is elZahir (الظهير)
which is an arabic word means the one who's behind and from time to time jump to the front and then move to the background again

the story is about a husband who's a famous writer and a wife reporter, both successful happy
suddenly the wife disappear, at first he thought she was killed or kidnapped, but day by day he get more and more to understand that his wife disappeared by her own free will and that she is waiting for him to find her and join her where she's
where he should find out, and he should accept the fact that even if he did find her she may be doesn't want him anymore.

so reading the story you'll think it's about a chase of evidence and clues to find out the wife, but this isn't true the story is about the husband and how in searching for his wife he discovered himself more and more
understand his life and emotions, at the end it's not about finding the wife but finding himself
I'll not say the end of it, so who didn't read it have fun do it
but at the end everything was revealed to him: his wife, his life and himself

something in the end bothered me too much (when you read it you'll understand) but that's how the writer thought it should end his story
this is one of the best story i've ever read, because everyone has his/her own zahir

the play was in Alexandria for more then 2 years and yet i didn't get the chance to attend
but when it's in the BA for only 2 nights, tickets were available and people were ready to go

OfCourse, it's in Arabic
but the language used was very artistic really
Yehia ElFakharany star of stars, actor of actors had a great presence
WOW
the three girls and the fool were very good too but the others were fair
the poem said by the fool were written by Ahmed Fouad Negm so of course it was very meaningful

I love taking pictures
find a new angle and new look to the object
but as always my friends believe that i waste the camera storage space on NONSENSE pic
so be it

i took some shots of pics i liked

this is one i thought very connected to myself
a distort face

another one is this, too similar to a pic i took before

Greek Icons

the exhibition “Approaching Heaven” featuring Icons of the Velimezis Collection from the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation and the Benaki Museum.
THE ENTIRE COLLECTION

i told the girls we should go to see it and they gave me the usual "dema3'ek"
so losers
it was worth watching really

some scenes are demonstrated in multiple icons (cross, christ's birth, ... etc)
those greek icons presents the Byzantine art in the middle ages, it has some similarity with the coptic art
(golden backgrounds, 2D perspectives, red for saints and kings, yellow hollow around the head, big eyes and forehead, ... )
i recommend that u all read the book "كيف تقرأ الأيقونة", it's very usefull
honestly, I was proud to look at these icons knowing that i share same believes and heritage with those artists

BELLE - one of the best french songs of all time

*Daniel Lavoie alias Quasimodo
Belle
a quoi me sert encore de prier Notre-Dame
*Patrick Fiori alis Frollo
Belle
a quoi me sert encore de prier Notre-Dame

CNN Election details

Check the CNN election section
those people analysis every tiny mini thing
the key word here is SEGMENTATION
voters by age, sex, eduction, income, race, religion, ....etc
and some segments are very significant : church attendance, Have Any Investments in Stock Market, Union Member, .. etc
they asked the voters important questions: one of them is "what are the most issues?" and 63% of the voters said it's economic when 9% said it's terrorism
pay attention that, the results on CNN website were published before 9AM Wednesday (that's when i checked it) and the counting was still going on some stats even after declaring the win of Obama
so it means that they build these results in 0 time, people just finished voting and already the result is on
OMG
this is not government organization, it's a news channel. it has the capability and the resources to do this huge surveys and data analysis.

then check the BBC election result section to see the difference
less analysis, less segmentation work, general data

P.S: i'm not going to even think about comparing with the egyptian election voters details

media to lead people

I like it
how individual do a positive action to enhance the society
just an actor invited some actors friends to do a couple of minutes video to spread awareness about voting right
and again, it's a clear demo of how deep the media effects people action
after the election ends, when the voters number will be announced, we'll find out how this kind of propaganda did
